About Angie

Welcome.  I’m Angie Bucu.

Thanks for stopping by.  Let me tell you a little about me.

I am an optimist and a wellness enthusiast…a full time seeker of wellness.  I love to experience, learn about, research and share knowledge on those things in life that bring well-being, happiness and joy to me, my loved ones (of the human and furry kind), and other like-minded souls seeking wellness in their lives.  I have a love and passion for the creatures that live in our oceans and marine environments and want to extend the experience and knowledge of bringing wellness to these environments, and how our interrelationship with the marine world can affect our wellness.

Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?  Marianne Williamson

My personal story starts with a reassessment of my life and career as a professional services provider (I was a Director at Deloitte and most recently ran the Asia-Pacific Immigration Services Group).  My journey lead me to explore the realm of holistic healthcare and wellness, in which I had been personally interested all my life, an interest ignited by my loving mother Irene who always tried to find alternative health options for our healing and well-being.  Throughout my professional career I had wanted to continue my education but my intuition kept telling me that an MBA wasn’t the right path.  I wanted something different, something that would help launch my career in a new direction and something that would inspire, motivate and help my own well-being.  The Master of Wellness (MoW) program offered by RMIT University was the path I was bound to follow.  Here is some information on the Masters of Wellness.

The knowledge I have gained, the insights discovered, the research, the resources, the people…I have been rewarded with so much abundance from the MoW that I feel it must be shared.

The Ingredients of Wellness Blog

This blog is intended to make wellness fun and available; to share with like-minded people research, articles, tips, news, interviews and musings about wellness.  The dimension of wellness this blog will cover include: physical, psychological and emotional, spiritually, social, environmental and occupational.  Wellness is an evolving concept and there are many more dimensions it incorporates.  For me though, these dimensions represent the holistic nature of wellness and are fundamental to achieving balance.  They incorporate the elements that we seek to have a meaningful, happy and loving life.

Organic Care HK

Why else am I doing this?

The catalyst that saw me start this journey was illness.  So it seemed that the first thing I should do is cleanup my life and my house. At this time I found Miessence, the world’s first certified organic skin and personal care range, that is certified to FOOD grade (not many brands can be held to this standard, even today).  I also found it important to become knowledgeable about what is in the products we put in and on our bodies; that we allow into our houses; and that we put into our environments – to be a conscious consumer; to learn to read and understand labels and the ingredients.  Through this blog and my other business Organic Care HK I share information on ingredients used in our beautiful Miessence products, product uses and reviews, and special offers.  I am proud to be the change I want to see, and I am proud to be involved with an organization that is about changing the way we act toward what we put on and into our bodies, and about giving back.  Miessence offers an opportunity to improve lives and do well for mother earth.  I invite you to come and join the journey.

Love of the Marine Environment

Taken @ Lady Elliott Island, Queensland as part of Project Manta expedition. I was allowed to name this Manta Ray and named her after my neice

My other passion and content I will bring to this blog is a love of our beautiful blue oceans and the marine creatures that inhabit this world.  I am especially interested in the interrelationship of marine environments and our wellness; how it works, what works well, how this can be built on and shared.  Hubby (Kenny) and I participated in an Earthwatch project in 2011 for Project Manta, a research project studying the biological and ecological goings on of manta-rays in Queensland. Our involvement with the scientists on this project ignited my desire to consider this interrelationship and was to be my MoW research project.  Because this topic is relatively unexplored, finding existing work in this area was difficult.  So I plan to develop this idea/concept through the pages of this blog to find the right questions that need answering in this field.  I’ll talk more about this in the posts to follow.

Wellness in the Workplace

What was my research, if not about marine environments?

The title of my study tells the story, Massage and Meditation: A case for wellness practice in the workplace.  It was a grounded theory study developing the theory that holistic therapies such as massage and meditation are efficacious therapies for treating workplace health issues such as stress, anxiety.  They are shown to improve mood, emotions and alertness, and would do well-being a part of any workplace wellness program.  I have developed a case study methodology for the next phase of this research and am seeking interest and funding to carry on this work.

These are my passions and what will be shared in the blog.

I couldn’t do any of this without the love and support of my husband Kenny and our girls.
